Among the rarities of early American copper lies the 1841 Proof cent. While PCGS (as of April 2024) lists the mintage as a mere 25 pieces, other sources indicate there could be as many as 50 coins in existence. Whether the mintage is 25 or 50 proofs, it remains a rarity that only few collectors can acquire. The present specimen is a beautiful Proof 64+ Red with just a drop of flecks and minor toning, rendering this coin original and as-struck. PCGS indicates a pop of 1 with 1 higher (in 65).
