The 1856 Flying Eagle cent presents as both Proof and Mint State strikes, but for this specific S-3 die pair the Mint State coins appear far less frequently. The coin in question for this lot displays choice, very pleasing surfaces and traces of original luster. There are no distracting marks on the coin, and the fields are an even golden-brown color. This would make for a phenomenal addition to a PCGS Registry Set!
